Located in Midtown Manhattan, the offices for advertising agency JWT New York also serves as the global headquarters for JWT Worldwide. As such, the creative office environment is designed to contribute to the agency’s philosophy and help its team create memorable work for its clients.

The intent extends to JWT Café, a casual spot in the building that serves coffee and sandwiches by day, then becomes a sleek bar on Wednesday and Thursday evenings — a site for gathering after work and entertaining clients.

At times, the space also acts as a backdrop for client photoshoots. It even played host to a scene for the hit AMC series Mad Men, about a New York ad agency in the 1960s.

Whatever the purpose, lighting is key. In 2008, strips of iLight Plexineon Blue fixtures were installed around the edge of the bar, part of a design conceived by Johnson Light Studio, which worked in collaboration with Clive Wilkinson Architects.

Recently, the Plexineon fixtures were changed out for iLight’s Hypnotica iS Color Changing Series fixtures — to great effect.

When it opened, the $125 million, 334-room Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago, became the first Radisson Blu-branded property in the United States. Radisson is part of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, and the upscale Radisson Blu brand was already well-established in Europe, Asia, and Africa.

Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel, Chicago, is located on the first 18 floors of the architecturally acclaimed, 81-story Aqua Tower, which was designed by Jeanne Gang of Studio Gang Architects and named the 2009 Emporis Skyscraper of the Year.

The interior of the hotel was the vision of U.K.-based designer Jim Hamilton of Graven Images. His design pays tribute to the Windy City — its history and its industry. At the same time, myriad materials create a visual and tactile experience that is both compelling and contemporary.

Among those materials are iLight Plexineon Blue Series fixtures, which illuminate a striking feature wall behind the reception desk in the hotel lobby.

Along the Las Vegas Strip—inside the ultra-hip Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas hotel and resort—is the Sahra Spa and Hammam, a new $33 million sanctuary for guests looking to rejuvenate in a luxurious and sophisticated setting.

The spa’s stunning interior echoes nearby Red Rock Canyon, with walls sculpted from 420 tons of local sandstone. Overhead, an expanding desert sky is suggested with waves of iLight Plexineon White 1X Series fixtures flowing across the ceiling—illuminating and visually unifying the winding, 43,000-square-foot space, from its entrance and retail shop, down dramatic cave-like hallways, through wet areas, a salon and other rooms.

While working on a residential lighting project, Robert Drummond was inspired to employ an existing 40-by-8-foot reflecting pool as a canvas for a work of art on the property of a New Mexico ranch residence.

An interactive video and LED installation artist, Drummond envisioned edging the pool with dynamic light to create excitement and energy.

Located along the main thoroughfare outside Washington, D.C., North Bethesda Market in Maryland is an upscale mixed-use development of residential, shopping, dining, and recreational space in a community that is being redefined.

For decades, the area comprised office buildings and standard suburban retail offerings. Today, it reflects the new urbanism vision of a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly place where people live, work, and play.

The commercial section of the development includes a six-story structure that is anchored by a Whole Foods grocery store. Particularly at night, the building contributes to the neighborhood’s exciting, modern aesthetic, thanks to the creative use of iLight’s Plexineon White 2X 3500K fixtures on three sides of the exterior.

Located near the U.S. and Canadian border, 45 miles from Vancouver, the enchanting community of White Rock, British Columbia, takes great pride in its picturesque beach promenade, which includes a historic 1,500-foot pier.

When aging lights along the pier recently needed replacing, there was an opportunity not only to install better illumination, but also enhance the waterfront charm. As a result, 15 new overhead arches were added, each edged with iLight Plexineon White 1X fixtures. The result is a civic treasure that’s now an even greater focal point for this “City by the Sea.”

For the thousands who arrive daily at Winnipeg James A. Armstrong Richardson International Airport in Manitoba, Canada, an unforgettable sight awaits in an unexpected place.

In the baggage claim area, eyes are immediately drawn to the ceiling, where 55 circular skylights in random sizes bathe the space in light and exude a sense of calm in what is typically a high-stress zone.

What’s more, iLight Plexineon Blue Series fixtures orbit each skylight, suggesting a starlit night on the open prairie while also providing striking contrast against the predominately white air terminal building.

Since opening in October 2011, the new passenger-friendly, state-of-the-art facility has quickly gained acclaim. Travel Channel recently named it one of the world’s 10 most iconic airports, and the project received a 2012 IES Award of Merit within the Edith F. Guth Memorial Award for Interior Lighting category.
