NOVA combines cutting-edge motorization, wireless control, and optical precision to deliver architectural-grade performance in a discreet 4-inch profile.
AVAILABLE STARTING IN Q4, 2025
LONDON, U.K. — Luminii, an industry-leading manufacturer of architectural LED lighting solutions, today announced the launch of NOVA, the smallest motorized recessed downlight in its RCL by Luminii range.
Making its world debut at Light 25 London (Stand 40, Business Design Centre, November 19–20), NOVA represents a major advancement in miniaturized motorized lighting by combining precision engineering, reliable performance, and elegant design in RCL by Luminii’s most compact motorized form factor to date.
Engineered on RCL by Luminii’s all-new next generation electronics platform, NOVA marks a major leap forward in miniaturized performance lighting, delivering precision control, compact form, and long-term reliability for luxury environments.
“NOVA represents the next chapter of innovation within Luminii’s expanding ecosystem,” said Jeff Parker, CEO of Luminii. “It highlights how far we’ve advanced in engineering motorized lighting—now smaller, more efficient, and more intelligent than ever before. By combining precision design with powerful control, NOVA opens new possibilities for architects and lighting designers around the world.”
Smaller Form. Greater Impact.
NOVA delivers 85% of the brightness of the RCL by Luminii DRX5 in a 30% smaller cutout (Ø100 mm / 4 in) and half the visual footprint. Purpose-built for applications where space is limited and visual discretion is paramount, NOVA empowers designers to specify high-performance, remotely adjustable lighting in new environments—from luxury residences and boutique hotels to retail flagships and cruise ships.
Despite its size, NOVA doesn’t compromise on features or output. The fixture is available in Static White, Tunable White, and LensVector™ digital zoom options, with both Trimmed and Trimless variants to suit any design aesthetic.
Breakthrough Platform Engineering
NOVA is the first remote-controlled luminaire built on RCL by Luminii’s all-new electronics platform, a next-generation mechanical and electronic architecture engineered to redefine motorized lighting performance.
Designed for low power consumption without compromising range or reliability, the platform leverages a proprietary wireless framework based on the Thread® protocol, delivering the efficiency and scalability of mesh networking while maintaining RCL by Luminii’s custom control logic. This architecture powers the company’s RCL Control system, ensuring smooth, reliable operation across global installations without reliance on external certification layers.
Through optimized antenna design, advanced material engineering, and precision stepper-motor control, the platform achieves pinpoint accuracy and highly dependable scene recall performance. The system delivers over three times the mechanical longevity of previous generations, sustaining 30,000+ movement cycles with exceptional stability.
By engineering the platform from the ground up, Luminii created a foundation that combines low power, high efficiency, and global interoperability—setting a new benchmark for motorized luminaire design. A proprietary 48-volt driver architecture further enhances system efficiency and expands LED engine compatibility, while the platform-based RCL Control network enables scalable, low-power connectivity across large, complex installations.
Optical Performance Refined
With beam angles as narrow as 6°, NOVA offers one of the most precise beams available in any motorized downlight under Ø100 mm / 4 in. Optional micro-prismatic lenses and honeycomb louvres allow field adjustment for the perfect balance of glare control and visual comfort—delivering both form and function for discerning specifiers.
“NOVA is a milestone in our pursuit of intelligent architectural lighting,” said Amy Bonder, Chief Commercial Officer at Luminii. “It bridges the gap between motorized and non-motorized fixtures, making advanced lighting control accessible to a wider range of applications. With NOVA, we’re not just introducing a smaller fixture—we’re expanding what’s possible for our customers globally.”
